Big Pine Key Charter School, FL

Excited

is red like roses, like apples,

like Santa’s sleigh.

It is purple like blueberries,

yellow like a buttercup,

silver like bells.

Excited happens when we go to the playground

or to the North Pole,

it happens on my birthday,

at a fair,

when I’m with my family.

Excited sounds like splashing at a swimming pool,

like the noise at Pizza Hut,

like riding on a sleigh.

It is the sound of clapping, of cheering

and feels just like touching a rainbow.

Excited is soft as flower petals

or Mommy or Daddy’s shirt.

It is silky like my hair

and as nice as Santa’s beard.

Excited!!!

Class poem

Love

is red like pretty roses, like Mom’s lipstick.

It is pink like hearts,

purple like violets and butterflies,

red like Santa’s sleigh.

Love happens when you’re close to a friend,

when you have a crush,

when you get a ring and get married.

It happens when you miss someone

because they are far away

or when I see my big sister.

Love smells like flowers,

like cookies shaped like hearts

and feels soft as a kitten’s fur,

soft as snow.

May love always be in your heart.

2nd grade Sea Star class
Class poem

Happy

is yellow like smiley faces,

green like grass,

purple like lollipops,

blue like the sky with no clouds,

red like a fresh apple.

Happy happens when I see my Dad in Columbia

or someone in my family who lives far away.

It happens when I do a tray flip double pop shove-it

on my skate board

or when I drive the golf cart with my cousins.

Happy smells like brownies, apple pie and salt water

and it sounds like birds singing,

like sleigh bells,

like laughter,

like my Mom or Dad

when they say they’re proud of me.
