Sad is blue like tears,
gray like clouds when it rains,
yellow
like thunder.

It happens when people are mean,
when friends move away
or when a friend says
they aren't your friend anymore.

Sad would smell
like onions,
like peppers,
like vanilla.

And it would feel
wet like tears,
like a wet
puppy dog.

Scared is black like darkness,
gray like a monster,
orange like a grinning jack o' lantern.

It happens at night
when the lights are off,
when you have nightmares.

It happens in the morning
when you wake up
too early.

Scared would smell dusty
like sand,
like bats,

like rusty old cheese
and it would feel sharp
like spikes.
