Sad…

Is blue like water, like a teardrop,

like rain when you can’t go outside and rollerblade.

It is pink like a sad face,

like fresh roses to make you happy,

like a balloon, like blocks, like a bumblebee stinging.

Sad is red like a heart, like a half-eaten apple,

like a car made of Legos, like a tongue.

Sad happens when someone you really like leaves you,

when someone hits you,

when someone hurts your feelings – ha ha ha ha ha

when you fall down and skin your knee.

Sad sounds like crying, like teardrops hitting the ground

and tastes like water and a bagel,

a salty tear.

Sad…

Happy…

Yellow like the sun,

a banana, yellow Legos.

Orange like a fruit snack, pants and pumpkins.

Black like a friendly king cobra,

blackbirds singing in the morning,

like a hippo.

Happy is blue like the sky, blue like water in NY,

blue like my Mommy’s eyes.

Happy happens when you’re going to your Grandma’s house,

when someone gives me a hug,

when I go to the toy store,

when someone gives you a box of candy,

when you get to watch Star Wars or Ninja Turtles

while eating salted popcorn.

Happy would smell like fresh air and chocolate

and would taste like vanilla and chocolate s’mores.

Happy…

Silly…

is orange like the letter S,

like a dog or a carrot in the fridge.

It is blue like a whale in the ocean,

like a blue jay eating bird seed,

like rain.

Silly could be red like a fire ball,

like a number 9,

like a rocket ship,

a partly eaten apple.

Silly happens when you make BIG trouble,

when you see a blue bunny

or a purple apple.

It smells like a garbage can,

like French toast with lots of homemade syrup,

like a smell that you just can’t find

and it would taste like a purple donut

with jelly beans on top,

a rotten apple, orange pancakes with bananas,

chocolate chip cookies with ants.

Silly.

Angry…

is purple like squished grapes,

like a smashed car,

a broken crayon.

It is red like an apple with a worm in it,

like a mouse eating your slice of pizza.

It can be silver like a buggy,

like a neon, like a sword,

like a stolen diamond.

Angry happens when you lose your new silver shoes

or a special ring that cost $20

or a special birthday present.

It sounds like harumpf, harumpf,

loud growling, a huffy,

someone being mean

and it would feel like someone biting or punching you,

someone pushing you around.

Angry might hit someone, might throw things

might kick.

Angry.
